My band got thru to the second round of Anugerah band.
Like… yaaay and all that, but I’m still very much concerned.
Not about the competition. I don’t give a hoot if we win or lose. We joined cos we just wanted to give it a try.
I’m more concerned about surviving.
I don’t have a solid, proper job. It also looks like currently I don’t have a solid career path either.
Why not a career in music, you ask?
Yeah, why not? But can you picture a 55year old man still pumping out beats and riffs to support his family?
It’s.. kinda hard to envision.
I’m still thinking about what I want to do, and what I need to do.
Hmmm…
Anyway, back to the anugerah band competition. I went back there again with my friends Ace (from the band Silver Tears who also happens to have got thru the 1st round), Hafeez (my band’s drummer) and also Amin (my project band buddy).
We got to see lotsa godawful bands. Also lotsa good ones!
I especially had much respect for the band “Cucu Datuk Merah” (Cucu=grandchild/grandchildren, Datuk=Grandfather/Sir/Baron, Merah=Red. So it’s roughly translated as Grandchildren of the Red Baron/Grandfather. Whatever that’s supposed to mean) when they played their own rendition of “Ini Rindu” (original artiste: Jamal Mirdad).
Man they rocked that song out!
Anis the bassist (who actually plays at House of Rock. Damn, he’s good.) was grooving and shaking his butt like he’s getting bitten my thousands of fire ants. Very, very entertaining. The vocalist was quite interactive too. You should have been there to really appreciate it.
As my good chum Hafeez would say… Marvellous!!
As for me.. I have another word.
FANTASTIC!

Band Cucu Datok Merah, permain bass, bukan lah permain biasa dan sudah pun ada kumpulan terhandal bernama Ministry Of Rock bersama Jatt Ali dan Fuad Rahman. Setahu Fifi, orang yg berbakat tak sepatutnya masok Anugerah band ni.Tak sesuai dah tidak adil pada band2 yg lain. MOR ada sebuah lagu melayu dah pernah di dengar di Radio, Ria and Warna. dan jugak video mereka ada di youtube. Bagi Fifi, MOR kumpulan yg cukup hebat dan sepatut nya terima undangan utk bermain di Anugerah ni seperti Undangan.Kerana band ni ter sangat lah handal. Album yg ada di pasaran : ‘BALADA ROCK HITS KLASIK VOL 2′ LAGU: REDHA ( Ministry Of Rock )Lagu ni 2 penyanyi. Anis aris (permain Bass) and Jatt Ali. I bought this CD too.
Bassist Cucu Datok Marah.. Nak glomour ke? Penyanyi Cucu Datok Marah, sing macam tak tahu sing gitu… Malu betol.
Alot of ppl know. Just wondering why?
Fifi, you can say what you want to say. Nothing is gonna chg…U tak happy pun, they already make it to the Semi Finals..and i guess they tried their very best already. Awak kenapa benci sangat eh ngan CDM? kenapa asyik memperkatakan the bass and singerlah .. Bass pukan pemain biasa but the fact is dia insan, manusia biasa…asal tak nak ckp pasal fatskunk ke, knightwings ke, x-tech ke or the other bands…lagi ada EP all that..perform everyway….dah more established. tapi masuk ANUGERAH BAND. takde pun di mempertikaikan? Hairan lah…Apa salah CDM eh ngan awak…hairan…other blogs pun you indicate your unhappiness…macam gini how the malays nak maju…asyik ada PHD aje…berilah sokongan..nie takde..menjatuhkan lagi ada..really pity masyarakat kita yg berperangai seperti ini.Just sit back, is it worth it?
